Tex (aka Pongo, aka Oscar Wilde) — adopted

2nd September 2015 by admin Comments Off on Tex (aka Pongo, aka Oscar Wilde) — adopted

Like many of our Dalmatians, Tex arrived from the shelter with the name “Pongo”. He came from Texas, and he is a rather large fellow, so Tex is the name we are using to distinguish him from the other Pongos. He is a young guy who is agile enough to climb over a 6 foot fence if left unattended in the back yard. He wouldn’t go out seeking adventure, but he would go out looking for you. Like most Dalmatians, he wants to be with his people. He is a very social guy who has charmed pretty much everyone he has met.

He has lots of energy, is great with other dogs, and loves to play. He is sharing his foster home with a cat, who does not appreciate his efforts to play. Tex needs a home where he will get regular exercise. He knows the command sit, but needs work in most other areas of obedience. He is house trained and will wait patiently in a crate while you are not home. This is recommended because he is still young enough to show interest in chewing.

Tex is currently in a foster home in Boise. Adopters outside the Boise area will be considered, but will be expected to travel to Boise to meet him. His adoption fee is $150. If you would like to meet Tex, please fill out our adoption inquiry form. A volunteer will call to arrange the meeting.

Della — adopted

24th July 2015 by admin Comments Off on Della — adopted

Della is a lovely lady who came to us from rural California.  We don’t know her age but it is in 2-5 range.  She has some tartar forming on her teeth, and a bit of a callous on one elbow.  Those are the only signs of age.  She has been calm and quiet since arriving, but she is a bit shy, and may become more outgoing after she has becomes more comfortable with her surroundings.  She is very gracious with people, but is mostly avoiding the other dogs.  She has not met cats or children since coming to rescue, so we don’t know how she will respond.

Della is a delicate girl.  She weighs about 45 pounds, and has a slender build.  Her coat is longer than the typical Dalmatian, but very silky and soft.  She would make a wonderful companion.  We think she might prefer a quiet home.

Della is spayed, and current on her vaccinations.  She is currently in Lake Stevens, Washington.  If you would like to meet Della, please fill out our adoption inquiry form.

20th July 2015 by admin Comments Off on Sadie

Miss Sadie is a 3.5 year old Dalmatian/American Bulldog mix.  She first came to rescue as a puppy in 2013.  We had hoped she was in her forever home, but life does not always go the way we hope.  Sadie is a silly girl who loves to be with her people.  Sadie is a wonderful dog! She is sweet and loving and just wants to cuddle. She is smart and very food motivated, she has a slight stubborn side to her but is very loyal to her people. She would do wonderful in a single dog household. She does great in the car and is good on the leash, she does well on hikes and laying around the house. She hasn’t met a person or kid she doesn’t like.  She is crate trained, so she will not get into mischief while you are not home.

Sadie has been living with another dog, but recently they have been fighting, and it has escalated to the point where it is clear they cannot continue living together.  While it is possible that she might be fine with a male dog, instead of a female, the ideal home would be one where she can be the only dog.  We are not sure about cats, since she hasn’t been around them recently.

Sadie weighs 55-60 pounds. She is spayed,  and current on her vaccinations.  She is currently in Gold Bar, Washington.  If you would like to meet Sadie, please fill out our adoption inquiry form.

Brody — adopted

11th July 2015 by admin Comments Off on Brody — adopted

Brody is lasted as a courtesy to his owner. At this time, only homes in the greater Portland area are under consideration. Thank you.

Meet Brody, an energetic 2 year old, neutered male Dalmatian. Brody recently relocated to Oregon with his lifetime person. They are sharing a small apartment with other people, and a cat. Life is busy for his person, so Brody is spending a lot of time in an apartment, when he would rather be running around in a back yard playing with kids or other dogs.

Because we know how much energy a young Dalmatian can have, we are seeking a home with previous experience with Dalmatians. A fenced yard, and an active lifestyle will be necessary.

Brody is crate trained, house trained, friendly with kids and dogs, and an all around great guy. He is currently in the Portland area. If you think you have what Brody needs, and would like to meet him, please fill out our adoption inquiry form. If you have previously sent an inquiry, please email to let us know you are interested in Brody.

Kayla — adopted

9th June 2015 by admin Comments Off on Kayla — adopted

My name is Kayla.  I am not a Dalmatian, but I am black and white, and very cute and cuddly.  I am about a year old. I may be fully grown on the outside, but I am still a puppy on the inside.  I want everyone to like me, and I am sad when they don’t.  I love to play, especially when the game involves running.  I also like to pull on things, and carry toys around in my mouth.

I love to play with other dogs, but I love people even more.  The thing I want most is a person who will love me, and pay attention to me, and let me follow them around.  I am very good in the house, and can stay in a crate all day while you are at work, if I have to.  I don’t like being in the crate, so you might have to pick me up and put me in.  I don’t make very much noise, unless there is another dog close by.

I can run fast and jump high, so if you are looking for a dog that can do sports like agility, I would be really good.  I don’t get in much trouble in the house, but I have not been left alone for very long.

I am at my foster home in Lake Stevens, hoping someone wants to meet me and fall in love with me, and make me their girl.  If you would like to meet me, fill out the adoption inquiry form, and mention Kayla.

Gilligan — adopted

20th May 2015 by admin Comments Off on Gilligan — adopted

Hi, my name is Gilligan. I am about 5 or 6 months old. I came from a place called Delano. I was lost for a while, before a nice animal control officer found me and took me to the shelter. I was there for a while. Then one day I went for a really long car ride. Now I’m living with a really nice family in Oregon. They have other dogs that don’t like me very much, but I don’t mind because they have a little boy and he is my best friend in the world. I like dogs, and having them to play with is nice, but nothing is better than having a kid to love you.

2015-04-14 14.54.49

My ears are cute and spotty, but they don’t hear very much, except for high pitched noises.  When I’m awake, I make up for it by keeping an eye on my people, so they can let me know what I should do.  I am a very sound sleeper.

2015-04-24 16.08.01

I like to play with toys, and sometimes I don’t feel like sharing them with another dog, so I growl.  If they still bother me, we play fight.  I like to play with other dogs, but I like people a lot better.  I have also lived with cats.  I think they are kind of mean, and cranky, and don’t know how to play and have fun.

2015-04-25 10.46.43

I love to be in the house.  I am calm, and have nice manners.  I also try hard to remember to go outside when I need to go potty.

2015-04-24 16.53.40

This was the day I learned how to jump up on furniture.  I was really proud, so I did it over, and over.

I would really love another home with kids who will throw the ball and have adventures in the yard with me.  I have all my shots, and also had the neuter surgery.  I am currently near Eugene, Oregon. If you think I could be your little buddy, please fill out the adoption inquiry form, and the rescue people will call you.

Baby Cakes — adopted

Hello, my name is Baby Cakes. I was born with ears that do not hear much, but they are so cute, I am able to use them to get my way. I am probably not a Dalmatian, but I am white with black spots and patches. My legs are a bit short for my long torso, but I am very cute, so it must be working for me. I came from a place called Wasco, where I was lost for a while. I have stayed a couple places since then. I am happiest when I go out and play with other dogs. I think people are nice, too, but I have a lot of energy, and dogs like to play longer than people.

2015-05-14 17.55.14

When I don’t have another dog to play with, I entertain myself toys. If I don’t have any toys, I find other things to play with. I’m a puppy. It’s my job to have fun.

I had a lot of fun playing in the mud. I would like to do it again. I didn’t even mind getting a bath after.

2015-05-17 12.54.16

I would really like to live in a place where I have another dog who wants to play with me. I am smart and would like to have people who would teach me things, and give me lots of attention. I don’t know how old I am but the people say between 3 and 4 months. I have had some shots, but have not had a spay surgery, whatever that is. They say I’m too little. I guess I will eat more puppy food, and see if I get bigger.

I am currently in a place called Lake Stevens. If you would like to meet me, fill out the adoption inquiry form, and one of the people will give you a call.

Toby — Adopted

Despite his movie star good looks, Toby is a shy, and rather timid fellow.  He loves to play with other dogs, and is fine with cats.  He has lived with children, and may find energetic or noisy children overwhelming.  He would probably be happier in an adult home, but won’t mind if little ones come over for an occasional visit.

Toby is 2 years old.  He is not completely deaf, but has limited hearing.  He is neutered, and current on his vaccinations.  He is currently in a foster home in Boise, Idaho.  We would like to find a home for him in the Boise area, or close enough to have a meeting or two before he goes home.  If you are interested in Toby, please fill out our adoption inquiry form.

Oliver 4

Oliver is a 2 – 3 year old male Dalmatian.  He came to us from California, where he had been surrendered to a shelter, adopted, and then surrendered again.  He had a huge mass which we thought was a hernia, but was actually a tumor.  Once removed, his personality began to come out.  We think he spent most of his time in a backyard kennel run.  He is very good in a crate, and is now learning to be a house dog.  He passed his obedience class, but is still working on impulse control.  He would do best in a home that has prior experience with young Dalmatians.

Oliver is currently in Surrey, British Columbia.  He is neutered, micro chipped, and current on his vaccinations.  He has a clean bill of health, and is ready for a home that is ready for the energy and enthusiasm of a young Dalmatian.  If you are interested in Oliver, please fill out our adoption inquiry form.

When Ladybug’s family surrendered her to the shelter, she was 8 years old, and tipped the scales at 135 pounds.  She could barely move, but she impressed the shelter staff with her gentle good nature.  They knew  it would be hard for Ladybug to lose the weight in the shelter environment, so they began asking rescue organizations to help.  Ladybug has been blessed with a lot of caring people.

ladybug 3

She went to a foster home in the country.  At first she could barely waddle across the front yard, but soon she was trotting all over the property, keeping an eye on the little goats whom she adored.  Ladybug has a thyroid condition.  Getting her on the right medication helped the pounds melt away.  Ladybug lost over 60 pounds and now weighs about 72 pounds.  In addition to thyroid medication, Ladybug also has an eye condition that is treated with a daily dose of prescription eye drops for chronic dry eyes.  She has also recently been diagnosed with inflammatory disease of the liver, which is managed with steroids.  It is not curable, but since it was detected early and is being treated, she could easily live another 5 years, which is pretty close to the normal life expectancy for a Dalmatian.

Ladybug is great with dogs, farm animals and people of all ages. She has been fine with cats in some situations, but there were others where she wanted to give chase. She is about 9 years old.  She is spayed and current on her vaccinations.

Ladybug is currently in a foster home in Salem, Oregon. She has been waiting for a forever home since June, 2014. If you can provide Ladybug with the love and care she needs, please fill out our adoption inquiry form.
