Dalmatians are an energetic breed. While the individual dogs are as unique as their spotted coats, they were bred to run with carriage horses. Their genetic material still carries the information needed to run as far and as fast as a team of horses pulling a carriage. If you don't have the same level of energy, you may find life with a Dalmatian challenging.
If you are looking for a calm dog that can attend social functions or go to the office with you, a rescue Dalmatian may not be the best fit. If you are looking for a quiet dog that will wait patiently in your apartment while you are away, a rescue Dalmatian may not be the best fit. If you are looking for a friendly dog that loves people and other animals, a rescue Dalmatian may not be the best fit.
If you are looking for a high energy companion who is also extremely needy and you are able to provide them with enough physical and mental stimulation while making sure they don't hurt anyone, a rescued Dalmatian could be your new best friend. We don't mean to imply that the entire breed is anti-social, but, Dalmatians coming to rescue tend to have limitations that prevent them from finding a home without first coming to rescue.
